SYNOPSIS

A movie is not a big movie until ‘the making of…’ is there to support it. But what if ‘the making of…’ could be about something else than the producer, director and actors bigging up the film in a self-aggrandising manner, that is so often the case? Since most British actors and directors crave the Hollywood way and eye Hollywood and not Shepperton or Ealing film studios as their desired destination, no surprise then that a lot of the British films feel like and are screen tests for Hollywood film companies to look at and find that talent that can ‘imitate’ their new Cold War philosophy and agenda. Art has always been about imitation and imitators, but then again what is being imitated may not be so predictable or a one way street. This hybrid theatre is grounded in Juvenalian satire and not ‘post-Airplane’ pastiche.
