monologue: Those Sweet Dreams

Entering the room dressed as a savage. From the doorway:

Wake me up just before my scene with Lady McBeth.

Musing:
Ah… Sweet dreams are made of this. Who am I to disagree…

Indeed who was I to disagree!
But of course as a young actor I disagreed with everything… for a very long time, in the name of staying truthful to my art.

Impress them with truth I would say …that is art, my art.

That in an industry where this or that producer, this or that director even this or that actor promises you the world only to deliver a fraction of a fraction of it.

I recall feeling that for years.

That was the truth that hold me back from being an actor he said. HIM the famous actor the chameleon said that to me.

I listened more or less, I let him do what he wanted to me. Some…I did enjoy, most of it I didn’t, but … but this is how I got the part in his show, the part that made me what I am today.

Now I do the same … I look at the young hungry actors bearing their truth in front of me I say (beat) to myself: Sweet dreams are made of this.
