The Death of a High Priestess
Bloomsbury Theatre, London
The [devised] WHAT:
A short PaR devised museum piece based on objects and newly translated papyrus fragments at the Petrie Museum, London.
The [devised] WHY:
It just so happens you can broke your shoulder while studying the papyrus collection at Petrie museum. Though these may not be connected events still they spill into each other and get some to ask how come Egyptian artifacts never depict people suffering, hurt or maimed by accident, if not design? The answer is the start of a devising process where a story can take shape between the artifacts, the context in which to present them and the interpretation. Original to the process on stage in this case is ‘the director’ introduces the piece and not the actor. The director doesn’t necessarily have to act, but needs to interpret, let the piece evolve and learn,…. the hard graft of devising.
