The ‘video alphabet’ WHAT:

A multi-screen impressionistic journey that takes video alphabet-like cards as cue points in making sense of a lang of the host society. This reflects an ongoing process central to the migrant condition in its everyday complex occurrence where two types of present/presence meet and mingle. The present there – the present here, both in conjunction and juxtaposition they create an embodied lang.

The ‘video alphabet’ WHY:

Would you speak ‘stop and search’ or ‘grime’ and can they talk back ‘snow’ or ‘blue skies’? A valid metaphorical question part of the migrant experience.

The story-free alphabet deconstructs lang to suggest something more personal at stake than the Western obsession with constructing ‘a story’. The absorbed meaning of the contact so experienced and how that is contradicted or reaffirmed in relation to the presence here and presence there, are more relevant and interconnect.

If the world lives to your expectations is more important to clarify by means of lang, and what that lang may be? The alphabet amplifies and plays with the perceived gaps between prevailing recorded lang and signs and thoughts, dreams and reality as gained new lang. That within each frame and in relation to a set of frames we become embodied language as migrants – only in a ‘peculiar’ way.

At formal level, multi-screen projects do not generally live on the web, probably they do not fit the one idea one format accessibility dogma formulated by Nielsen.
